Optimizing your GMB is easy when you give Google what it needs… relevant content that it’s searchers are looking for. Posing photos and articles to your GMB is a great way to optimize your listing, however don’t go too far! The Google algorithm is sensitive to over optimization and automated content.
Stick with posting content that is relevant, timely and useful. This is how Google likes to see your content.
If you are looking for a new article topic, stick with writing about topics relevant to your industry or niche. This way, if someone searches in Google about any of the topics mentioned in your article, it will show up as one of the top results (if not the first result depending on competition).
Writing articles that no one will want to read isn’t going to get you anywhere. Have content that is interesting and useful and people are going to be more likely to click on your listing!
One other tip I have found extremely useful with my client’s accounts is having an additional category page created within their GMB account. For example: If you run a restaurant/cafe, have a “featured” category page created within your GMB listing. This will create a new tab on the left hand side of your Google+ business profile that when clicked, will take a user to this page filled with posts regarding featured content and photos related to topics you have previously written about.
This is a great way to get more access to exposure for your content without over optimizing your account. Make sure all the images are relevant and actually add value.
